These lovely earrings are made with 8mm rounds of the extremely rare tanzanite and sterling silver shepherd’s hook.
The exclusive blue gemstone is found in only one location – at the foothill of Mount Kilimanjaro in Northern Tanzania. It was New York jewelers Tiffany & Co who named the newly discovered gemstone in 1968 and declared it to be “the most beautiful blue stone to be discovered in 2,000 years.” Unfortunately, the mines in Tanzania are rapidly running out of this precious stone making it increasingly valuable. Tanzanite is December’s birthstone alongside turquoise and blue topaz. Matching necklace available. The earrings are also available with a sterling silver earring post and butterfly back.
